Bayside Council wants to hear your thoughts on the draft Rockdale Centre Masterplan. This plan builds on the 2012 Masterplan and shapes the future of Rockdale, creating a vibrant civic precinct.
The masterplan aims to:
- Deliver new homes and commercial opportunities to support our growing population
- Improve public spaces and create safe, welcoming places for people to gather
- Strengthen Rockdale’s unique identity and celebrate its cultural diversity
- Quality social infrastructure to support our growing population
- Provide a flexible framework that can adapt over time to meet future needs
Background
Rockdale has long been a commercial and civic heart in our local government area. Over the past 30 years, its role has shifted due to changes in the wider region, new developments, and evolving population needs. The 2012 Masterplan set a framework for growth, including high-density development, upgraded public spaces, and community hubs like Rockdale Library and Town Hall.
Building on the 2012 plan the new draft masterplan for the Rockdale Centre recognises our culturally rich and diverse community, with over 60% of residents born overseas and many speaking multiple languages. With Sydney’s population growing and housing demand increasing, the draft masterplan responds to these challenges by supporting new homes, commercial opportunities, and social infrastructure.
Have Your Say
The draft masterplan is now on exhibition, review the plan and share ideas to help refine the masterplan. Your input will guide how Rockdale continues to grow as a safe, vibrant, and inclusive town center.
