Draft Rockdale Centre Masterplan

Council has created a dynamic vision through the draft Rockdale Centre Masterplan. This draft builds on the 2012 Masterplan and sets a strategic direction for Rockdale’s development as a dynamic civic and town centre.

The plan aims to:

  • Provide opportunities for new housing and employment
  • Enhance public spaces and social infrastructure
  • Celebrate and reflect Rockdale’s cultural diversity
  • Establish a flexible framework to support long-term growth

Rockdale has long served as a key commercial and civic hub within the local government area. The draft Masterplan recognises this role, responds to the area’s changing population and needs, and presents a forward-looking vision for a renewed and vibrant Rockdale Centre.

Why now?
In response to the NSW Government’s housing reforms, including Transport Oriented Development (TOD) controls, Council has prepared a locally led Masterplan for Rockdale. The draft plan not only meets but exceeds State housing targets, ensuring growth is carefully planned with improved public spaces, infrastructure, and a strong Civic Heart.

The draft masterplan is now on exhibition. Review the plan and share ideas, your input will guide how Rockdale continues to grow as a safe, vibrant, and inclusive town centre.

One Vision - Four Precincts
