Update
The renewal of the Scarborough Park Court facility will ensure recreational use can be improved with increased accessibility and multisport facilities. Construction is currently underway on the new courts which will provide tennis, basketball and volleyball. It is anticipated that the project will be completed in February 2024.
Background
Bayside Council is designing the upgrade of the Scarborough Park Courts. The renewal of the courts will ensure that recreational use can be maximised through enhanced accessibility and multi-play surface types.
The project
The proposed upgrade aims to rejuvenate the site by making it safe and accessible while being sympathetic to the highly valued natural environment at the location. The upgrade also aims to create a multi-sport facility that will increase the recreational opportunities available to the community, with the potential to accommodate tennis, netball, basketball, volleyball and futsal.
Scope
- Upgrade the courts to a compliant acrylic hard court surface
- New player and spectator shelters
- New compliant sports fencing
- New compliant LED sports lighting
- An accessible path from Hawthorne St parking to the courts.
