  • Public Hearing Complete 4 June 2026

Following the conclusion of public exhibition, an independent Public Hearing was held on Thursday 4 June 2026 6.30pm to 7.30pm at Rockdale Library.

Background

Council is proposing to reclassify a small parcel of land at 5A Waldron Street, Sandringham.

In February 2023, Council endorsed the potential sale of the site on commercial terms, subject to the retention of the existing drainage easement.

The site is currently a walkway that provides limited public benefit and is not a key connection to surrounding properties or nearby services. As such, Council supports its closure.

Reclassification of the land is required to enable the proposed sale.

What's Happening Now?

The planning proposal is now on exhibition for 28 days. The amendment proposed by the Planning Proposal includes updating Part 1 of Schedule 4 of the BLEP 2021 to reflect the reclassification of the land from ‘Community’ to ‘Operational’ land.
