We are looking for a community representative to join the Bayside Floodplain Risk Management Committee. The community representative will have the opportunity to advise Council on floodplain risk management throughout the Bayside Council area.

Who is on the Committee?

The Committee is an advisory group, comprised of:

  • Council Staff
  • Councillors
  • Government agencies (such as the State Emergency Service and the Office of Environment and Heritage)
  • 2 x Community Representatives ( we require 1 more community representative)

The Committee advises Council on the development and implementation of floodplain risk management studies and plans, in accordance with the NSW Floodplain Development Manual 2005.

What is involved?

As a community representative, you will represent the interests of the wider community. This is a voluntary role and involves attending approximately 4 meetings a year. Membership of the panel lasts until the Committee is disbanded.

Criteria:

Community representatives must meet the following selection criteria:

  • Be a current resident or business person (18 years of age or older) living or working in the Bayside Council local government area
  • Have a basic understanding or interest in flooding
  • Have a commitment to floodplain management in the Bayside local government area
  • Be able to represent and communicate the interests of the local community
