October 2025 - PROJECT UPDATE
Thank you to everyone who provided feedback earlier this year regarding the annual Halloween activities in and around William Street, Botany.
We have reviewed your comments and are pleased to advise the actions Bayside Council will be implementing to help support the safety, accessibility, and enjoyment of this much-loved community event.
This year, the following measures will be in place:
- Traffic Marshals: Two marshals will be positioned around Hambly Street and Brown Avenue to assist with safe pedestrian crossings.
- Variable Message Signs (VMS): Signs will be installed on Aylesbury Street, Swinbourne Street, and Banksia Street for seven days leading up to Halloween, indicating “Halloween Event 31st October, William Street (Times TBC).” On the day, the signs will read “Halloween Today – Caution: Pedestrians About” to alert drivers of increased pedestrian activity.
- Reduced Speed Limit: Speeds will be reduced to 40 km/h along William Street and on Banksia Street near the intersection with William Street.
Bayside Council is taking these steps to support the community-led event, while respecting that it is organised by local families and residents.
We appreciate your continued engagement and support in ensuring that Halloween in William Street remains a safe and enjoyable celebration for all.
