Draft Policy Background

Council has developed a draft Information Management Policy to strengthen how we manage and protect information across Council.

This new policy ensures information is accurate, accessible, secure, and properly retained, while promoting accountability, transparency, and compliance with privacy and legislative requirements. It also supports digital transformation and data-driven decision-making.

Our existing Records and Information Management Policy has provided a strong foundation but focuses mainly on traditional recordkeeping. With the growing volume of digital data, emails, metadata, and knowledge assets, it’s important that our policies also evolve.

The draft Information Management Policy addresses these needs and aligns closely with Council’s Privacy Management Plan, creating a cohesive and compliant framework for managing information.
