Background

In 2022, Council resolved to develop an action plan to raise awareness of and prevent domestic, family, and sexual violence, by embedding gender equality and respect in Council and the community.

A draft Domestic and Family Violence Action Plan (Action Plan) was developed and placed on public exhibition from 25 November 2022 to 8 February 2023.

The draft Action Plan has been updated to incorporate community and Council feedback and we want to know what you think.

What has changed?

The draft Action Plan has been updated to incorporate community and Council feedback and to better align with the NSW Government Domestic and Family Violence Framework for Reform.

The following objectives and supporting actions have been added to the draft Action Plan:

  • Promote Council’s participation in campaigns to raise awareness of domestic and family violence.
  • Council venues are accessible at times that suit customers.
  • Promote Council’s respect for Bayside's diverse community.
  • Mandatory procurement criteria that requires tenderers to demonstrate active domestic violence and/or gender equality policies or plans in the business.
