Project Update
We're upgrading the carpark at Depena Reserve to improve accessibility, enhance safety, reduce hooning, and improve traffic flow in response to community feedback and the area's ongoing development.
In 2023, we exhibited a concept design for the car park. Click here to view the stage one plans.
Our project team have now updated the concept design to incorporate community feedback. The final design is now on exhibition. Also on exhibition is the Review of Environmental Factors or REF. You can view the document here.
Key features of the design include:
- Improved traffic flow and parking efficiency, especially in busy times during school drop-offs
- Improved safety, with traffic calming measures and designated crossing points
- Measures to deter hooning, including better lighting and CCTV cameras
- Enhanced accessibility for pedestrians, cyclists, and people with disabilities, including new paths
- Road resurfacing and updated line marking
- Retention of existing trees to preserve the environmental value of the reserve.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS)
Council anticipates that construction will commence in summer 2025/2026.
Council will deliver the project in stages to minimise disruption to the community. The eastern carpark will be constructed during the December School Holidays while the western carpark will be constructed separately, once the eastern carpark is operational.
Council aims to minimise disruption to the community during all construction projects. The car park will be unavailable for use during the construction period to allow for improvements. Construction zones will be fenced to ensure public safety and signage used to divert the public where required.
Following a review of community feedback, several key updates have been made to the project design to reflect local priorities and concerns better. The revised features aim to improve safety, accessibility, and amenity while preserving the natural character of the area:
Improved traffic flow and parking efficiency, especially in busy times during school drop-offs
Improved safety, with traffic calming measures and designated crossing points
Measures to deter hooning, including better lighting and CCTV cameras
Enhanced accessibility for pedestrians, cyclists, and people with disabilities, including new paths
Road resurfacing and updated line marking
Retention of existing trees to preserve the environmental value of the reserve.
