Background
Bayside Council’s CCTV Policy is in place to help make our community safer. CCTV cameras are used to deter crime, assist police when needed, and support the detection and investigation of offences.
The Policy will also expand its scope to include protecting Council assets and monitoring illegal dumping, helping us create cleaner and safer public spaces for everyone.
The objectives of the CCTV system:
- To enhance community safety and reduce the fear of crime by increasing the perceived level of security.
- To assist police and regulatory agencies in the effective allocation of resources for crime prevention.
- To support law enforcement and regulatory agencies in the detection, investigation, and prosecution of offenders.
- To contribute to a safer environment for residents, workers, and visitors to the Bayside LGA.
Have Your Say
The updated Policy will provide clear regulations on how CCTV is used and managed, making sure it follows the law and best practice standards.
