Bayside Council understands the importance of community engagement as a key driver in our decision making process. Bayside Council is a member of the IAP2 Australia who are the peak body for the community and stakeholder engagement sector. IAP2 believe that engagement improves social, environmental and economic outcomes and increases trust in the democratic process.

Why we engage

We are part of a passionate community. We want to connect with you, and hear your opinions about the plans, projects and policies we develop. By getting involved and sharing your feedback and opinions, you directly contribute to the decision making process resulting in tailored community outcomes.

How we engage

Our approach to community engagement is tailored to each project. Have Your Say Bayside is our online engagement portal. It allows people to participate at a time that suits them, from the comfort of their own home. However, we use many different methods of engaging, such as written letters, social media posts and community workshops.

Our commitment, outlined in our Engagement and Communications Strategy, is to make engagement:

  • Authentic
  • Timely
  • Inclusive
  • Transparent
  • Easy
