Bayside Council is proposing to enter into a Planning Agreement with the landowner and developer, Eldesco Group Pty Ltd, in relation to the development at 215-235 O'Riordan Street and 103 Ewan Street, Mascot.
What is a Planning Agreement?
A Planning Agreement is a legal agreement entered into by a planning authority (such as Bayside Council) and a developer. Under the Planning Agreement, a developer agrees to provide contributions that link to improvements in local community services and facilities.
The benefit of the proposed Planning Agreement
The public benefit outcome from the draft Planning Agreement is a $12 million dollar monetary contribution to Council to be used towards a public purpose. Council has identified John Curtin Reserve as a potential site that could be upgraded with these funds. Council may also apply the contribution towards any other public purpose if it reasonably considers it could better serve the public interest in the area.
