Wolli Creek One Way Circuit - Improving Traffic and Safety

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Email this link

Consultation has concluded

Council is improving traffic flow and safety for road users, pedestrians and cyclists in Wolli Creek.

In November 2018, we presented residents with two different options for a one-way system. Over 50% supported 'Option 2' - making Arncliffe Street, Guess Avenue, Mt Olympus Boulevarde and Magdalene Terrace a one-way circuit.

At a Council meeting in March 2019, Council adopted the Traffic Committee recommendation for Option 2. You can read the agenda here (pg 85).

We have now engaged Sydney Civil to implement the chosen one way circuit and other improvements. This will include increased street lighting, widening and beautification of footpaths and roads, extra pedestrian crossings, adding a bicycle lane and addressing storm water issues to fix localized flooding.

The one-way system is designed to reduce vehicles bypassing the Princes Highway and using Arncliffe Street and Magdalene Terrace as a short-cut.

The design improves the ability for pedestrians and cyclists to use the Guess Avenue rail underpass when travelling between the Bonar Street Precinct and Wolli Creek.

Sydney Civil has a dedicated project page where you can learn more about the work they are doing, register for project updates, and submit questions or feedback about the work.

Background

Council undertook traffic counts and modelling, which resulted in the consultation and development of the two options. Each option had different impacts on traffic, access and safety.
