Consultation has concluded for Stage 1 Greening Bayside.

Please give us your feedback on Stage 2 Cooling Bayside.

Making Bayside a green, leafy and sustainable place by 2030 is one of the key themes of our Community Strategic Plan.

To achieve this we are Greening Bayside by planting more trees in our streets, parks and natural open spaces.

By planting more trees, we can:

  • provide shade to cool our homes and suburbs,
  • create habitats for our native animals, and
  • make our community beautiful.

Our Work

We will start our work by focusing on areas with lower tree cover.

In 2019, we successfully applied to the NSW Government's 5 Million Trees for Greater Sydney grant, to co-fund $200,000 for tree planting. With this, we will plant 800 trees across Banksmeadow, Eastgardens, Hillsdale, Mascot, Kyeemagh and Sans Souci. In these suburbs, less than 10% of land is currently shaded by trees.

800 trees is just the start, we are already planning for our next round of planting and have some locations in mind. Our Quick Poll 'Where should we plant next?' is now closed, thank you to those who contributed!
